Rules & Participation Guidelines

• Only dachshunds are allowed to participate. Sorry, no wannabe-weens or mixed breeds!

• Each participating dog must have two human handlers: one at the start gate and one at the finish line. Handlers must be at least 18 years old unless accompanied by an adult.

• You may use treats, toys, noises, funny faces, or similar methods to entice your dog to run to you.

  • You may NOT throw any objects, treats, or toys onto the race course.

  • Laser pointers are prohibited.

• Dogs must be friendly and well-mannered with both people and other dogs.

  • Any dog that shows aggression towards another dog, person, or handler will be disqualified and asked to leave.

  • The event organizers reserve the right to remove or disqualify any dog or owner for behavior deemed inappropriate.

Health & Safety Requirements

• Participating dogs must be in good health and up to date on vaccinations.

• You agree to inform event organizers immediately should your dog's health change prior to or during the event.

Liability Waiver

• All dog owners assume full responsibility for themselves, their dog, and any guests they bring.

• Your participation means you agree to release and hold harmless the Dachtoberfest and Dachtona 500 organizers, volunteers, sponsors, and venue owners from any liability, claims, demands, damages, or causes of action resulting from participation in this event.

Media Release

Your participation means you grant permission for your image and that of your dog to be used in photos, videos, and other media coverage of the event, including promotional materials and social media posts, without compensation.

Weather & Cancellation Policy

The event will proceed in light rain but may be delayed or canceled in the event of dangerous weather. The organizers reserve the right to make schedule changes as needed. Registration fee is nonrefundable.

Race Conduct

Any attempt to interfere with another dog or handler may result in disqualification. All decisions made by race officials are final. 

Remember, this is all about FUN! The people who run this event are all volunteers, so please be kind. :)
